As J.Crew’s resident creative genius, Jenna Lyons rules the pages of glossies and blogs alike. There’s not a woman out there who doesn’t covet her high-low mix. Lyons is the girl who wears a sequin maxi skirt paired with a cashmere sweater to the Met Ball. She’s not afraid to rock geek chic glasses; her boy-girl style is about as chic as it gets.
Jenna Lyons has single-handedly made J.Crew the high fashion brand it is. She’s revamped the clothes. She’s revamped the stores. She’s revamped the catalogues. Jenna Lyons focuses on quality, and it’s this single-minded focus toward creative greatness that has taken J.Crew from preppy Nantucket style stalwart to the fashion force it is today.
With all Jenna Lyons’ creative juices flowing daily at the company East Village office, it’s no surprise that her Park Slope brownstone, photographed for numerous shelter magazines including our beloved Domino, is a sight to be seen.
From black chalkboard walls in the bathroom to dressing room most women would kill for, Lyons’ brownstone (which she previously shared with her ex-husband; the home was listed during her divorce and purchased by Depeche Mode’s Vince Clarke last fall) is some serious eye candy. Lyons might not be living there any longer, but that doesn’t mean we can’t ogle the goods. And trust us, this Garfield Place brownstone is GOOD. Really, really good.
So let’s talk brownstones. A listing for Jenna Lyon’s home boasted: “An open double parlor, beautiful (but not fussy) plaster cornices & medallions, aged pine floors, and 7 restored limestone mantels are just a few of the special details of this magnificent house. The casually chic home boasts seven bedrooms, 3.5 luxuriously appointed baths, an eat-in cook’s kitchen with top of the line appliances, large private terrace off the master bedroom and a cellar that has been converted to a media room for entertaining.”
How cute is her son’s room? Love that cow hide rug, as well as the black chalkboard walls.
This living room…have we died and gone to heaven? Who would have thought that yellow would make for a good pop of color against shades of black, white and grey? Jenna Lyons, would, for one!
Jenna Lyon’s little breakfast area feels positively drenched in light – it’s as though you’re taking your tea with a splash of sunshine. Those windows alone are to die for.
We don’t even have to say it: any girl would kill for a dressing room like Jenna Lyons’ (and a closet like Jenna Lyons’).
Here’s another look at the living room and that bright couch. This time, it’s styled with a Moroccan-style rug. Amazing how much lighter the couch looks in this shot, isn’t it? This was probably styled for a different shelter mag than the first shot above.
Ah, to have a clawfoot tub like that one. As beautiful as this bathroom from Jenna Lyons is, and as undeniably chic as the room may be, we have to say that we’d feel a bit weird showering out in the open like that. No curtain, no doors, no nothing. Are we being too modest?
