Because the glass encasing protects the flame, moody lanterns are great for fall outdoor lighting as well as indoor lighting. The best part? Group lanterns together for an impactful, curated look. Three is good number. And make sure to vary the lanterns in size or style (or both!). Candle lanterns and lamps are not mutually exclusive. Both can be included in a lighting strategy as long as they’re not side by side.
Pro Tip: Avoid placing short candles in candle lanterns. In general, the candle should be about two-thirds the height of the lantern. If your candle is too short, an easy way to add height and visual interest is to place the candle on a pedestal or candlestick inside the lantern. Really consider creative placement for your moody lantern. They can look just as great on the floor as they do on a table or console.
